A Plain Story is an autobiography that stems from a brief recollection of the Petersen’s history as non-believers. The necessary move to the then developing Mitchells Plain on the Cape Flats in 1978, assured new life but later revealed itself to be a precarious shift. Following the birth of the author, Isaac Petersen, and the rebirth of his parents’ souls into the faith of Jesus Christ in 1982, the fruit of this memoir is found in his recollections as a young coloured boy who has to grow up in the most extreme of social conditions. A raw account of gangsterism, violence, drugs, religion and finally God’s unfailing love, ultimately leads to an uncut reflection of what it is like to live under Grace in one of the world’s drug capitals. The irony of the title is fully revealed in the factual depictions of a miracle-filled life that not only overcomes some of the odds, but all of them. It defines the Word of God and its promises to be the only undeniable truth that fundamentally leads to a triumphant life. If God can reveal His divine power and purpose of having intimate fellowship with an insignificant human that was destined for nothing, surely He must be just as hard at work in wanting to showcase His love to you.

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man that He should lie, neither the son of man that He should repent. Has He said, and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken, and shall He not make it good?
